The Netherlands will send F-35 fighter jets to patrol Polish airspace, as well as protect arms supply routes to Ukraine. This was announced on July 7 by Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.

"Dutch F-35 fighter jets will guard NATO airspace in Poland from September together with Norway. This is how we deter Russia and protect supply lines to Ukraine," Brekelmans wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

He also stressed that it is important for the security of the Netherlands to protect the eastern flank of NATO from drones and cruise missiles.

On June 24, Brekelmans announced that the Dutch authorities had allocated a new €175 million package of military assistance to Ukraine. In addition, he added that the Netherlands has signed contracts with the Ukrainian side for the production of 600,000 drones.
