- Aksyonov discussed with the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency the possibility of opening Simferopol airport
The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, discussed with the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Dmitry Yadrov, questions about the readiness of Simferopol airport to resume operations. This was announced on July 7 by the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency.
"Dmitry Yadrov and the head of the Republic of Crimea <...> discussed the readiness of Simferopol International Airport and its staff for the potential resumption of work," the Telegram channel said.
It is specified that the heads also discussed the material and technical condition of the air harbor. According to Yadrov, Rosaviatsia is dealing with issues related to the support and further development of Simferopol Airport.
In turn, Aksyonov said that he was ready to launch the airport upon receiving an appropriate order from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In February of this year, the official representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Artyom Korenyako, said that information disseminated in the media about urgent preparations for the opening of airports temporarily closed in Russia was not true.
The flight restriction regime at Krasnodar airport, as well as Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista was first introduced on February 24, 2022 after the start of the Russian special operation to protect Donbass. It has been regularly extended since then.
