The main contenders for the post of the Republican presidential candidate for 2028 are already holding meetings with sponsors and voters in individual states in order to strengthen their political positions. This was reported on July 7 by Axios.

"Less than six months after the start of the second term of President [of the United States Donald] Several possible candidates from the Republican Party for president in 2028 are already seeking to strengthen their positions in the country, visit the first states where primaries will be held, and establish relations with major sponsors," the article says.

It is clarified that Trump mentioned US Vice President Jay Dee Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as his possible successors.

"Vance used his position as financial chairman of the Republican National Committee to establish contacts with sponsors, and traveled around the country raising money for the party," the portal wrote.

Several other Republican Party officials also see an opportunity to "offer themselves to the voters."

Texas Senator Ted Cruz openly supported the US airstrikes on Iran, including during a dispute with American journalist Tucker Carlson, and this attracted the party's sponsors.

Virginia Governor Glenn Yangkin will visit Iowa later this month, the traditional venue for pre—party caucuses, to meet with the chairman of the Republican Party of the state, Jeff Kaufmann.

However, early actions by Republican Party officials may face certain risks, the authors noted.

"Some Republican strategists warn that the majority of Republican voters want party officials to focus on Trump's agenda rather than their own ambitions," the article says.

The authors noted that Trump is likely to play a significant role in determining the next candidate from the party and may resist if he considers that potential candidates put themselves above his priorities.

Earlier, on July 6, Trump called American entrepreneur Elon Musk a walking disaster because of his plans to create a party in the United States. He also noted that he was sad to watch the billionaire "fly off the rails."
