Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that expands the possibilities of the State Traffic Inspectorate to revoke driver's licenses that have already been issued. It will enter into force on March 1, 2027. The traffic police will have the right to prematurely revoke the certificates of drivers who have received contraindications to driving after an extraordinary medical examination.

With the entry into force of the law, a motorist will be able to be sent for an emergency examination during medical examinations and medical examinations. It is required to complete it within three months, during which time the driver retains the right to drive, but failure to appear will lead to the cancellation of the rights.

Information about the driver's medical report is transmitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, after which a decision is made on the cancellation of the certificate. Rights that have been terminated for health reasons are restored upon receipt of a medical report that confirms the absence of contraindications to driving. The driver's medical certificate is transferred to electronic form, but if desired, the conclusion is issued in a paper version.

On July 4, it was reported that the government would submit to the State Duma a bill introducing new duties for public services and increasing some existing ones, including for motorists.
