The organizer of the Khibiny trail race was detained in Kirovsk
In Kirovsk, Murmansk region, the director of the company that organized the sports event, during which two people were killed, was detained. This was announced on Monday, July 7, by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.
"The Investigative Committee investigator detained the general director of a commercial organization, who was charged with ensuring security measures for participants of a mass sporting event — a trail (cross-country) race with elements of mountain running in Kirovsk, during which two people died," the department wrote on its Telegram channel.
Earlier that day, the governor of the Murmansk Region, Andrey Chibis, announced that two people died in Kirovsk during the Khibiny amateur trail race — a 62-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, as well as a 47-year-old Muscovite. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers").
