The lack of partial success in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement may lead to a decrease in confidence in the mediators and the strengthening of radical forces on both sides. This was stated on July 7 in an interview with Izvestia by political analyst Dmitry Brije.
"The prospects for future negotiations remain only in one case: if Israel really realizes that it is impossible to solve the problem of the Gaza Strip by military means, and Hamas realizes that only through flexibility in negotiations can the remaining infrastructure of Gaza and people's lives be saved," the source said.
The political scientist noted the serious consequences of the current situation, emphasizing that the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen. He said that every delay in negotiations leads to new civilian casualties. In addition, there is growing tension in the region. In his opinion, as the time spent on resolving the conflict increases, the risk of activation of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement and the Yemeni Houthis increases.
"The situation may be affected by severe international pressure, especially from the United States, Qatar, Egypt and the countries of the European Union. As well as the further deterioration of the humanitarian situation, which will force the parties to at least temporarily take a breather. Today's result is not the end of negotiations, it is a dangerous freezing point when the war continues and peace has not yet begun," the expert stressed.
On the same day, American leader Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement could be signed in the coming days. However, Sky News Arabia later announced that the first round of indirect talks had ended without results.
