After that, the truck collided with a second passenger car moving behind it in the same direction. Both the female driver and her daughter, born in 2025, were killed in a car accident. The passenger of the second passenger car was injured and ended up in the hospital.
There were 30 accidents involving buses, in which there were no fatalities, but 36 road users, including three children, needed medical help. The reason for 14 bus accidents were traffic violations committed by their drivers.
As a result of 108 accidents, 32 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 76 outside their area of operation, 107 pedestrians, including 21 children, were injured in various degrees of severity, while six minor pedestrians were injured while crossing the roadway in designated places.
In the evening in the city of Engels, Saratov region, an intoxicated 30-year—old car driver skidded and ran over two teenagers, a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, who were on the sidewalk in front of a controlled pedestrian crossing. In the Saratov region, in the evening, a 20-year-old motorist, driving a passenger car without a driver's license, ran over a 12-year-old cyclist who was moving along the right side of the road in the same direction as him and suddenly began to cross the roadway in front of the vehicle. The schoolgirl died.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged drivers to comply with traffic regulations and be more careful on the roads of towns and cities in the summer. Children's behavior on the road is often unpredictable, so when driving inside populated areas, special care should be taken not to exceed the permitted speed limit.
In addition, parents were reminded of the need to be more attentive to their preschool children — to control their leisure time, not to let them walk alone without supervision, and to use retroreflective elements on the clothes of young pedestrians to improve visibility in the evening.
"Have an explanatory conversation with your children about the rules of safe travel on personal mobility aids, bicycles and scooters, paying special attention to the inadmissibility of minors under the age of 14 traveling on public roads, as well as the need to dismount when crossing the roadway at a pedestrian crossing," said the head of the Department of Road Safety Promotion and Prevention. children's road traffic injuries Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Police Colonel Sergei Hrantskevich.
The department also drew the attention of drivers to ensuring safety when overtaking vehicles, especially in places permitted for this purpose. When starting overtaking, you should make sure that the distance and speed for its implementation are sufficient and fully allow you to safely complete the maneuver without creating an emergency situation for yourself and other road users.
Earlier, on July 3, amendments to the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation were submitted to the State Duma for consideration, providing for the return of a 50% discount on fines for traffic violations.
