Despite the many advantages of summer holidays, climate change, temperature fluctuations on the beach and in the sea can contribute to the exacerbation of urological diseases in men. Vladimir Besprozvanny, a urologist at SM Clinic, warned about this in a conversation with Izvestia on July 8, emphasizing that it is during the summer months that the number of complaints about prostate inflammation increases sharply.

One of the main provoking factors, according to the doctor, are sudden temperature fluctuations. The contrast between an air—conditioned room and the heat of the street, bathing in cold water followed by staying in wet clothes on hot sand, sudden changes in climatic zones - all this adversely affects the health of the prostate.

"The prostate gland is extremely sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Even banal hypothermia or blowing under the air conditioner can become a trigger for the inflammatory process in the organ," says Besprozvanny.

An additional risk for the prostate is sexual infections. Disorderly resort acquaintances and non-observance of personal hygiene significantly increase the likelihood of infection, especially against the background of reduced immunity. The infectious process can affect not only the urethra, but also the male genitals, including the prostate gland. Even with timely elimination of the problem in the prostate, pathological processes can begin, resulting in sexual and reproductive disorders.

Do not underestimate the effect of jetlag on the prostate of men. Rapid jet lag can not only disrupt natural biorhythms, but also affect the production of the main male hormone, testosterone.

"Note to men: testosterone is synthesized primarily during sleep. Frequent lack of sleep and desynchronization with the biological clock can disrupt hormone production and greatly reduce its levels in a man's body. And this has a very negative effect on potency, the general hormonal background and the condition of the prostate. If a man is used to such an irregular sleep-wake regime, he faces a much more serious problem — infertility," the urologist emphasized.

Physical inactivity is another common cause of prostate problems. Against the background of spa relaxation, many men literally "stick" in deck chairs, which, of course, causes stagnation of blood in the pelvic organs, which means it is very harmful to the prostate.

Dangers can lie in wait for men even in sanatoriums. It is better to give up physiotherapy (stone therapy, relaxing massages), as well as sports activities, including gym training, tennis or horse riding, if a pathology in the prostate has already been diagnosed.

"The best thing you can do to prevent your health is moderate physical activity: swimming, walking at a leisurely pace, walking. And if you have chronic diseases, such as prostatitis, be sure to consult your doctor before traveling. Otherwise, a vacation can turn into very unpleasant surprises," advised Bezprozvanny.

Earlier, on June 17, Alexander Sysoev, oncourologist at SM Clinic, told Izvestia about an analysis that helps detect prostate cancer. According to him, a blood test for prostate-specific antigen helps to detect a dangerous disease at an early stage, when the tumor has not yet metastasized to neighboring organs.
