The weather forecaster warned about abnormal heat in Moscow
Hot weather is expected in Moscow this week. Moreover, on Thursday, July 10, the temperature record of 1996 may be repeated. Tatiana Pozdnyakova, a leading specialist at the Meteonosti news agency, told Izvestia about this on July 7.
"On Tuesday and Wednesday, the daytime temperature will be +29...+31 degrees, the nights will also be warm — +18 ...+20 degrees in the city and +15...+20 in the region," Pozdnyakova said.
According to forecasts, thermometers may rise to +34 degrees on Thursday, which is close to the absolute maximum for this time of year (33.4 degrees in 1996). The specialist noted that on July 10, the temperature record could be repeated or even blocked.
In addition, the hot weather with short-term summer rains will continue over the weekend.
The forecaster warned that the current weather conditions could escalate into a dangerous phenomenon if the heat lasts longer than predicted.
"For now, we're just talking about hot weather, not a dangerous phenomenon. The criterion of dangerous heat is considered to be a temperature above +30 degrees, which persists for more than five consecutive days," the expert noted.
On July 2, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand, predicted a return of temperature in Moscow to normal on July 8. He specified that the air in the capital will warm up to +23 ...+25 degrees.
