Representatives of Western European countries and the United Kingdom in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) do not intend to resolve the conflict in Ukraine politically and are giving ultimatums to Russia. This was announced on July 7 by Maxim Buyakevich, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OSCE.

"Their approach to a political settlement is now completely unrealistic. <...> All scenarios developed by European analysts have an ultimatum character, which in fact means a mood for further escalation of the conflict. The West is not interested in a cease—fire," he told RIA Novosti.

Buyakevich noted that the proposals put forward by the West do not take into account the interests of Moscow, which has repeatedly explained the reasons why it does not intend to go to a "unilateral unconditional pause" in the conflict.

"No one is going to give Ukraine time to rearm and regroup, which is what Western opponents want," the diplomat said.

According to him, Europe's bellicose rhetoric aimed at militarization and continued military support for the Kiev regime may indicate a lack of desire for a political solution to the current situation.

Buyakevich said a day earlier that EU countries, intentionally demonizing Russia, together with London, continue to actively supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and ignore Moscow's negotiating positions.
