- The crew of the Uragan MLRS bombarded the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with leaflets calling for surrender
The Uragan multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of the Center group of forces, using rockets, bombarded the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with propaganda leaflets calling for the voluntary surrender of the special military operation zone in the Red Army area. This was announced on July 7 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The ministry noted that during the work of the gunners of one MLRS crew, more than 64 thousand leaflets were dropped.
"Since our group is advancing and liberating recruitment points very well, this type of leaflet calls on the Armed Forces of Ukraine to lay down their weapons and make the right choice in their lives, to save their lives, their comrades," said Ivan Grobov, commander of the traction department of the Uragan MLRS transport and loading vehicle.
The rockets used for such tasks are 220-millimeter ammunition, in which bundles with propaganda booklets are placed instead of damaging elements and explosives. These shells have a specially painted red warhead so that they can be easily distinguished from other types of ammunition. In addition, the firing range allows gunners to operate at a distance of up to 35 km.
Alexey Bazhanov, the commander of the Uragan MLRS squad, noted that there are four containers in such combat shells in which leaflets are placed.
"There are about 100 leaflets in each container, so when a hurricane is running, the cluster fuse explodes and these leaflets are scattered over an area of up to several kilometers," said Alexey Bazhanov, commander of the traction department of the Uragan MLRS transport and loading vehicle.
For such combat projectiles, timers are set to complete the task, which are adjusted for different firing times, determined depending on the exact distance to the target.
According to Yuri Vasiliev, commander of the Uragan MLRS combat vehicle, the flyer contains a QR code that must be used to get acquainted with information about voluntary surrender.
On June 25, captured AFU militant Anton Aleksenko spoke about attempts to defect from the training ground where he was being trained. He noted that he was caught, but they didn't tell anyone about it, so as not to spoil the statistics. In addition, the captured militant said that his command sent people to combat positions without weapons and equipment.
