Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar agreed during a meeting on the sidelines of the XVII BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro to further build a "particularly privileged strategic partnership" between the states. This was announced on July 6 on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"Both sides confirmed the course towards further building relations of a "particularly privileged strategic partnership" between the two countries across the entire spectrum of practical cooperation," the article says.

It is specified that the representatives of the countries also discussed the schedule of upcoming meetings between Russia and India. In addition, they exchanged views on some pressing international issues.

On the same day, Lavrov and his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira discussed the schedule of upcoming contacts between Russia and Brazil at various levels during the XVII BRICS summit. In addition, the foreign ministers checked the clock on the leading areas of cooperation between the two states within the framework of key platforms.
