Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi on the sidelines of the XVII BRICS summit, condemned the military strikes by Israel and the United States on the territory of the Islamic Republic. This was announced on July 6 by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry on its official website.

"The Russian side has confirmed its condemnation of the Israeli and US military strikes on Iran's territory, including the bombing of the country's nuclear energy infrastructure facilities under IAEA safeguards, which were unprovoked and carried out in violation of the UN Charter and international law," the statement said.

In addition, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries noted the importance of resolving the crisis over the Iranian nuclear program exclusively through political and diplomatic means. At the same time, Moscow declared its readiness to find mutually acceptable solutions, including on the basis of proposals previously voiced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on June 26 that the United States and Israel are responsible for the damage done to the reputation of the IAEA and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in connection with the conflict over Iran. According to her, the attacks on the Islamic Republic's nuclear facilities, which are under the agency's control, have become "an undisguised challenge to the system."
