Two people were taken to hospital due to an accident involving a drunk driver in Engels.

As a result of a car driven by a drunk man hitting a group of pedestrians in Engels, two people were hospitalized. This was announced on July 6 by the Governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin.

"Two people were taken to the hospital. Doctors carry out the necessary treatment. I have instructed the Minister of Health to take this issue under personal control," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Busargin also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased 15-year-old girl. According to him, her relatives will receive the necessary assistance.

The head of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate, Mikhail Chernikov, in an interview with Izvestia, spoke about how the new national project will reduce accidents on the roads.

A drunk driver ran over three pedestrians standing at a bus stop, it was reported earlier in the day. As a result of the incident, the underage girl died on the spot. A criminal case was opened into the incident under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person committed by a person in a state of intoxication").
