The situation related to the outbreak of pink lichen in Thailand is under control. This was announced on July 6 on the official website of Rospotrebnadzor.

"Rospotrebnadzor is monitoring reports of an outbreak of pink lichen in Thailand. According to available information, the country's Department of Medical Services has issued a medical warning about pink lichen, a skin disease that is common during the rainy season. The number of cases is not specified," the publication says.

According to the agency, pink lichen is most often seen in young people aged 10 to 35 years. This disease usually occurs due to the fact that the body is weakened. Stress, hypothermia, or allergic reactions may also be the cause.

Pink lichen appears 1-4 weeks after the infection, Rospotrebnadzor added. With it, people can see "plaques" in the form of reddish-pink spots, the diameter of which reaches several centimeters.

"The disease is not considered contagious and most often resolves on its own in 6-8 weeks, doctors strongly recommend seeking medical help at the first symptoms," the department stressed.

It is noted that for prevention purposes, it is necessary to wash hands thoroughly after public places, before eating, and use only bottled or boiled water. In addition, Rospotrebnadzor also advised to avoid contact with people who show signs of respiratory and intestinal infections.

Earlier, on July 5, The Independent newspaper, citing the British Health Agency (UKHSA), reported the spread of a new strain of coronavirus with a unique symptom. It is specified that we are talking about "Stratus". With this disease, people's voices become hoarse.
