Bessent warned US trading partners about the application of duties from August 1

The United States plans to apply the duties announced by President Donald Trump on April 2, starting on August 1, to trading partners with whom no progress has been made in negotiations. This was reported on July 6 by Axios with reference to the US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
"Countries that do not conclude trade agreements with the United States before August 1 can expect duty rates to return to the levels announced in April," the publication says.
At the same time, Bessent expressed his conviction that the ultimatum would push many countries to conclude deals, writes "Газета.Ru ".
Earlier, on July 4, Trump announced that Washington would send letters to foreign countries related to the amount of new duties from August 1. According to him, they will vary in cost from 60 or 70% to 10 and 20%.
