The Ministry of Transport reported a minor ammonia leak on a tanker in Ust-Luga.

A minor leak of liquid ammonia occurred on a tanker in the port village of Ust-Luga, Kingisepp district, Leningrad Region, and the crew was evacuated. This was announced on July 6 by the Ministry of Transport of Russia.

"On July 6, a minor leak of liquid ammonia occurred in the seaport of Ust-Luga (Leningrad Region) as a result of an incident during loading and unloading operations on the tanker Eco Vizard," the agency wrote on the Telegram channel.

It is specified that all 23 crew members have already been evacuated, they are in the port, there are no casualties. Further loading was stopped.

According to the agency, the terminal's emergency services are currently dealing with the consequences of the incident. All forces of the Baltic branch of the State Maritime Rescue Service of Russia (FSBI "Morspassluzhba") have been put on full alert. A diving inspection of the vessel is planned.

According to Alexander Drozdenko, the Governor of the Leningrad Region, the chilly weather and the timely installation of a water curtain prevented the dispersion of the substance in the atmosphere and made it possible to ensure its localization.

"There is no threat to life and health, as well as negative impact on the environment. Environmental safety indicators are within the MPC (maximum permissible concentration.— Ed.), the measurements were provided by employees of the Leningrad Region Civil Protection Department," he added on the Telegram channel.

The governor also clarified that an inspection was being carried out as a result of the incident.

Earlier, on June 9, it was reported about a leak of petroleum products in the Kazachinsky threshold of the Yenisei River in the Krasnoyarsk Territory due to damage to the hull of the ship. On the same day, the head of the Kazachinsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Yuri Ozerskikh, said that the amount of fuel leaking from the ship into the Yenisei River had increased from 10-15 tons to 30 tons.
