The State Duma deputy spoke about the new duties of doctors

Starting from March 1, Russian doctors have new powers, according to which they are required to inform law enforcement agencies about potentially dangerous patients. Leonid Ogul, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, told about this on July 6.

"On March 1, 2025, an important law came into force in Russia aimed at preventing socially dangerous actions on the part of people suffering from chronic and protracted mental disorders. This rule is designed to strengthen the safety of society, as well as to ensure timely care for the patients themselves," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Ogul stressed that health workers will inform law enforcement agencies about patients who, according to the professional opinion of doctors, may pose a threat to others. Active medical monitoring will be established for such citizens to monitor their health status in order to prevent possible risks in a timely manner. It clarifies that this law does not violate the principles of humanity and medical ethics.

"The Ministry of Health has approved clear criteria for assessing such cases, which excludes arbitrary interpretation of the law. It is important to understand that this measure does not infringe on the rights of patients, but, on the contrary, is aimed at protecting them and protecting society," he said.

Yulia Drozhzhina, a member of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, said on May 27 that starting from June 1, Russian pharmacies will become part of the healthcare system, and pharmacists will receive benefits and preferences that employees in this field are entitled to. Despite the innovation, it will not change anything for citizens, prices for vital and essential medicines will not increase.
