The confrontation between US President Donald Trump and American billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk is a battle of ambitions between two people with hypertrophied egos. This opinion was expressed on July 6 in an interview with Izvestia by political scientist, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen.

"Two billionaires who have a complicated, let's say, relationship. They have different views. Both, let's be honest, are narcissistic, used to getting their own way. And now they're locked in a battle: the richest man in the world versus one of the most powerful. It's just a battle of ambitions between two people with an exaggerated ego," he said.

The political scientist noted that Trump largely depends on his environment and often makes decisions based on emotions, without going into details. At the same time, according to Rasmussen, both the American leader and the entrepreneur have rational ideas.

So, commenting on Musk's proposal to create a new political party in the United States, Rasmussen said that such an initiative may be needed in the country, but its implementation may take a long time. At the same time, the expert did not rule out that the party could play a significant role in politics, at least as a lobby.

"Elon is right about one thing: in matters of foreign policy, especially US aggression, both parties are like twins. Take Israel: no matter how many civilians died at humanitarian aid handouts, no matter how many hospitals were bombed, there is zero criticism. The official rhetoric is: "These children are the future militants of [the Palestinian movement] Hamas, they must also be destroyed," Rasmussen summed up.
