At the congress, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation approved the change of its official name to "The Communist Party of the Russian Federation — a political party of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation." This was announced on July 5 by Dmitry Novikov, a deputy of the State Duma from the party.

So, he answered the journalists' question in the affirmative about whether the new name had been approved.

On Saturday, June 5, the 19th Reporting and Election Congress of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation took place. It was held at the Snegiri wellness complex in the Istra district of the Moscow region.

On July 5, Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, in an interview with Izvestia, said that he insisted that the name Stalingrad be returned to Volgograd. According to him, the party is preparing an appropriate decision on this issue.
