Kenyan runner Chebet sets a world record at a distance of 5,000 m

Two-time Olympic champion Kenyan runner Beatrice Chebet has set a new world record in 5,000 m running at the 2025 Diamond League. The race took place on July 5 in the American city of Eugene, Oregon.

So, the 25-year-old representative of Kenya overcame a distance of 5,000 m in 13 minutes 58.06 seconds. Thus, she broke the record set by Ethiopian Gudaf Tsegai in September 2023. She covered the same distance in 14 minutes 00.21 seconds.

The second place in the race was taken by Kenyan Agnes Jebet Ngetic with a score of 14 minutes 1.29 seconds, and Tsegai closed the top three, who covered the distance in 14 minutes 4.41 seconds.

Swedish athlete Armand Duplantis set a new world record in the pole vault at the Diamond League tournament in Stockholm on June 15. The athlete overcame the bar of 6.28 meters and set the 12th world record in his career.
