The media called the reason for Ronaldo's absence at the funeral of Jota
The striker of the Saudi football club (FC) Al-Nasr and the Portuguese national team Cristiano Ronaldo missed the funeral of the deceased Portuguese football player Diogo Jota because he did not want to attract unnecessary attention from the media. This was reported by the Daily Mail on July 5.
The Portuguese newspaper A Bola clarified that Ronaldo had contacted the relatives of the deceased. Together they decided that his presence could cause inconvenience and distract the press from the funeral ceremony.
Jota's funeral was attended by players of the English Liverpool team and the Portuguese national team.
The death of Diogo Jota as a result of an accident in the province of Zamora became known on July 3. It was clarified that the incident occurred on the 65th km of the A-52 highway, near the municipality of Palacios de Sanabria in Spain.
