The UK has opened a criminal case into the attack on a REN TV journalist.

A criminal case has been opened in Moscow over the attack on a REN TV journalist. This was reported on July 5 in the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (GSU IC) in the capital.
"According to the investigation, on July 2, 2025, the film crew of the REN TV channel carried out their professional activities in accordance with the editorial task, namely shooting a report on private cosmetologists who receive patients at home," the report says.
It is specified that the cosmetologist, realizing that a journalist was in front of him, decided to interfere with legitimate professional activities. According to the Izvestia correspondent, the filming took place at a specialist's home. As soon as the hostess found out that there was a journalist in front of her, she began to spread her hands and strangle him.
The criminal case was initiated in accordance with Part 3 of Article 144 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Obstruction of the legitimate professional activity of a journalist"). At the moment, investigators are carrying out measures aimed at clarifying the circumstances of the incident. In addition, eyewitness interviews are also being conducted.
Earlier, on June 30, it was reported that a pre-investigation check had been launched into the attack on journalists of the REN TV channel. Employees of the Moscow private cosmetology clinic prevented the professional activities of the film crew during the editorial assignment. After the journalists recorded on camera the gross violations of the medical institution, its staff used brute force.
