A criminal case has been opened into the collapse of a balcony on a resident of Omsk.

The Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Omsk region has opened a criminal case into the collapse of the brickwork of the balcony. The relevant information was published on July 5 in the Telegram channel of the department.

"According to the investigation, in February 2007, a 10-storey multi-apartment building was commissioned at 232/1 Herzen Street <...>, during the construction and maintenance of which violations were committed, which led to the collapse on July 4, 2025 of the brickwork of the balcony of the apartment located on the eighth floor," the report says.

As a result of the incident, a 64-year-old woman was injured. At the time of the collapse of the brickwork of the balcony, she was standing on the porch. The woman was found to have bruises and fractures, and she also needed medical attention.

A criminal case was opened into the incident in accordance with Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Carrying out work or providing services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers"). At the moment, investigative measures are being carried out to determine the cause of the collapse of the masonry and the culprits of employees of construction and maintenance buildings of organizations.

The collapse of a balcony on a 64-year-old woman on Herzen Street in Omsk was reported earlier, on July 4. It will be clarified that the incident occurred during a hurricane.
