Germany called for the restoration of Nord Stream and the establishment of gas supplies from Russia

Germany should resume Russian gas supplies and restore the operation of the Nord Stream pipeline. This was announced on July 5 by the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Tino Fragalla, during a press conference.

"We demand an extension of the life of coal-fired power plants. And, of course, the resumption of gas supplies from Russia. Nord Stream needs to be repaired. In this case, it doesn't matter at all under which operator," he believes.

Abdullah clarified that if the United States turns out to be such an operator, it will benefit the German economy. In addition, he called on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to start a dialogue with Russia.

The United States is also showing interest in pipelines.

On April 25, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev called the possible restoration of the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 pipelines a matter of the political will of the German and US authorities. According to him, there are many businessmen among the new US administration who know a lot about the economy and can deal with a deal to restore Nord Streams.
