European countries are furiously fighting against the truth about the historical facts and events of the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This was announced on July 5 by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during the opening of the Museum of the Glory of the Mogilev region.

"Especially now, when the truth about that war is being furiously fought in an "enlightened" Europe: the Nazis are marching, memorials and monuments are being demolished, and history has been hypocritically rewritten," the Belarusian leader's press service quoted him as saying on its website.

According to Lukashenko, that is why the residents of the republic honor the memory of the events of the Second World War and the war veterans who rebuilt the towns and villages of Mogilev region after the liberation of the territory.

The Belarusian leader also recalled the losses of the Soviet Union during the war, which amounted to about 30 million people. He clarified that in order to prevent this from happening again, it is important to remember the lessons of history.

In April, Peter Marcek, a former member of the Slovak parliament, said that it would be a disgrace for the entire state to forget the feat of the Red Army during the Second World War. Meanwhile, it is now a trend in the West to rewrite history and claim that it was the Anglo-Saxons who saved the world from fascism.
