- Gazmanov performed the song "Don't be a Fool, America" as part of a tribute to the Lube band

Singer and People's Artist of Russia Oleg Gazmanov performed the musical composition "Don't be a fool, America" as part of the tribute album "Lube 35. It's starting all over again..."
"I am very grateful to [Lyube's soloist] Nikolai Rastorguev for the fact that four years ago he sang my song "Roads" beautifully for my 70th birthday. And now I have the opportunity to "respond" by singing the song "Don't be a fool, America" to the tribute to "Lube," Gazmanov said.
The performer called Rastorguev's voice unique and "the true voice of Russia." That's why "Don't be a fool, America!" is not easy to sing. Gazmanov also congratulated on the release of the tribute and wished new creative victories.
In turn, Rastorguev noted that this song originated "as a joke." A clip with animation elements was shot for "Don't be a fool, America!" As a result, he won the prize for "best director" at Cannes. This clip, according to Rastorguev, was a real breakthrough, as nothing like it had been done before.
Rastorguev also spoke about the history of the composition. At that moment, he and the police officer Igor Matvienko were in Sochi. Then the filming of the Morning Mail program was supposed to take place, for which it was necessary to record a musical composition that was not yet on the air, and also it was necessary to make a short video. As a result, he was recorded in the bathroom of Matvienko's room. It was there that Rastorguev sang "Don't be a fool, America!" Subsequently, the musicians made a funny video for this "demo" for the Morning Mail. They shot a few frames on film, and finished the rest.
"It was a shock to us that our video won the MIDEM European Award in 1994, which was very prestigious at that time. The main prize was then awarded to the Aerosmith group. And we were rewarded for our humor," said Rastorguev.
Earlier, on June 20, it was reported that the Russian musician Prince (real name — Andrey Knyazev) performed the song "Father Makhno" as part of the tribute "Lube. 35. Everything begins again ...". According to him, the composition "took place very shockingly."
The tribute "Lyube. 35. Everything starts again..." is a reinterpretation of the band's songs by other musicians in their signature style. The idea to record such an album appeared more than a year ago, and more than 50 performers and bands of various generations and genres took part in the work on it.
The release of the first part of the tribute album "Lube. 35. Everything starts again ..." took place on February 21. So, the first part of the album includes such popular songs of the band as "Battalion Commander" performed by Alexander Marshal, "Taganskaya Station" performed by Garik Sukachev, "There, beyond the mists" performed by Elena Vaenga, "Horse" performed by the Sretensky Monastery choir, "The main thing is that I have you" performed by the band "25/17" and others.
