Britain called for easing sanctions against Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine

The easing of anti-Russian sanctions by the West will contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on July 5 by Ian Proud, a former member of the British diplomatic service, in an article for Strategic Culture.
"New sanctions will only encourage Russia to continue fighting, not to conclude peace. Europe should stimulate peace by easing sanctions," the article says.
According to Proud, Russia will be able to endure economic difficulties longer than Europe, but the introduction of new tariffs will encourage the Russian side to continue the conflict.
At the same time, the diplomat clarified that the restrictions had no real impact on Russia's ability in various areas of production, as evidenced by the growth of the Russian economy by 3.6%, while in Europe this figure was only 0.9%.
"No sanctions imposed against Russia have changed the foundations of the Russian economic model, and I think no sanctions will ever change that. Nevertheless, the Europeans have been imposing sanctions against Russia for eleven years without acknowledging this," he concluded.
On the eve of the American leader Donald Trump admitted that the Russian leadership is coping with the sanctions, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is a professional. He also added that Washington may impose new restrictions on Russia.
