AFD called on Merz to talk with Putin about resolving the conflict in Ukraine

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz should hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Tino Fragalla, at a press conference, the video of which was posted on July 5 on the faction's YouTube channel.
"We urge Friedrich Merz to finally hold talks with Vladimir Putin, at least by phone," he said.
According to Abdullah, a dialogue between the leaders can help to reach an agreed solution to the conflict in Ukraine, and this would be an important contribution of Germany to the settlement process.
On June 20, Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the German Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice party, called on Merz to call Putin and propose coming to Moscow. In turn, Merz said that he was not going to call the President of the Russian Federation yet because of fears that this could allegedly be followed by an escalation in Ukraine.
