Police officers are conducting an investigation into a fight involving the ex-striker of the Krasnodar football club and the Russian national team Fedor Smolov in Moscow. This was announced on June 5 by Vladimir Vasenin, head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the capital.

"During the search activities, the identities of all participants were established within a day after the incident. <...> The inspection is currently ongoing, and a decision will be made based on its results in accordance with the law," Vasenin said.

The press service of the Moscow Interior Ministry noted that one of the participants in the fight is a native of Chelyabinsk. He went to a medical facility.

According to Vasenin, the police were unable to interview Smolov because he had gone abroad. At the same time, law enforcement officers requested medical documents from institutions in Moscow and Chelyabinsk. The police have not received any documentation on the treatment in full.

"Given the time frame for reviewing materials limited by law, in order to collect all the necessary documents and establish the circumstances of the incident, it was decided not to initiate criminal proceedings and collect all the necessary documents," Vasenin said.

Information is also currently being verified that Smolov was extorted from money.

The conflict occurred at the Coffee company on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street on May 28. Later, on June 5, footage of a football player fighting with visitors appeared online. In addition, after the incident, Smolov was asked for money so that this video would not get online, but the athlete refused to pay.

It later became known that the conflict between Smolov and the two men occurred after they refused to have the athlete pay their bill. Businessman Andrey Popelukha, who became a participant in the fight, told Izvestia that he had no complaints against Smolov after the fight.
