The lives of two medical workers who were injured when a patient was attacked with a knife in Irkutsk are not in danger. This was announced on July 5 by the Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev.

"Now the lives of Olga Alexandrovna Asaulenko and Irina Nikolaevna Marochkina are not in danger. The doctors did everything possible to save their colleagues," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

It is specified that now the women are recovering and after a while they are ready to return to work again.

The measure is aimed at protecting doctors from aggressive behavior.

A man attacked medical workers with a knife and a gas canister at an Irkutsk hospital on June 3. The deputy chief physician and the secretary of the institution were hospitalized in serious condition.

A criminal case has been opened in the Investigative Committee. At the moment, all the circumstances of the incident are being clarified. Later it became known that the assaulted man was being treated at the regional neuropsychiatric dispensary. The court later arrested him for two months.
