The Russian side intends to closely monitor Germany's actions on the transfer of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. This was announced on July 4 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.

According to him, the Russian Federation will also monitor the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in handling missiles.

"It is not easy to train Ukrainian military personnel in handling the Taurus. We are closely monitoring how it will actually happen. <... > We will keep an eye on specific cases," he said live on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

At the same time, Nechaev clarified that currently some information on this initiative may be unreliable, and actions "sometimes diverge from declarations."

On July 1, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that he had discussed with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky the possible training of the Ukrainian military in handling Taurus cruise missiles. He also clarified that Germany would no longer publicly discuss the issue of arms supplies to Kiev.
