In Sergiev Posad, a man stabbed a nine-year-old child in the neck. This was reported on July 4 by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (GSU IC) in the Moscow region.

"In the courtyard of an apartment building in Sergiev Posad, a man stabbed a nine-year-old boy in the neck. The child was hospitalized in a medical facility," the department's Telegram channel said.

The suspect turned out to be a local resident born in 1990, and he was detained. The Sergiev Posad City Investigative Department opened a criminal case on the attack under Part 3 of Article 30 and paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder of a minor).

The tragedy has revealed critical flaws in the system of ensuring the safety of urban infrastructure, experts believe.

Earlier, on May 19, a 35-year-old man killed his seven-year-old son in Transbaikalia, later committing suicide. A criminal case has been opened into the incident under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of a minor").
