In the year of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, the organizers of the Scarlet Sails Alumni Celebration dedicated part of the festive program to the siege of Leningrad and the feat of the city's residents on the Neva. In a conversation with Izvestia on July 4, Vladislav Kabanov, the director of the concert part, stressed that the memory of the heroes had not faded.

"In the year of the Great Victory, we tell the audience and all our graduates that the memory of the heroes has not faded. We say thank you to them for a peaceful life, for a peaceful sky above their heads. <...> It makes me shudder for the responsibility you bear in front of the audience, showing that the exploits of the past have not been forgotten, they must be looked up to," Kabanov shared.

He said that the finale of the number turned out to be particularly impressive. The Symphony No. 7 "Leningradskaya" by composer Dmitry Shostakovich was played on the site. To its accompaniment, archival wartime materials were projected onto the scenery in the form of a taped window.

Earlier, the creators of the holiday said that the success of "Scarlet Sails – 2025" became a motive for political pressure on the organizers. They were included in the database of officials, public figures and law enforcement officers allegedly involved in military propaganda and the creation of ideologically biased shows created by the platform of the Russian opposition. Kabanov stressed that if the show was able to attract such attention from the outside, then they are making a decent product.

"If there's such outside attention to our show, it means we're really making a decent product that attracts that attention. Our graduates, the very heroes standing on the Palace Square, are the future of our country. By creating such a show in our country, inspiring them with our cultural code, we understand that we are keeping pace with the state and doing this only for the benefit of our country," Kabanov concluded.

The Scarlet Sails Alumni Celebration took place in St. Petersburg on the night of June 29 and became one of the most discussed events of the week.

In 2005, Scarlet Sails began to be held again after a long-term hiatus at the initiative of ROSSIYA Joint-Stock Bank, the Government of St. Petersburg and Channel Five.
