- The media pointed to suspicions in Congress because of Hegseth's words about the depletion of weapons stocks.

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth could have told a lie about the shortage of ammunition in the country to supply them to Ukraine, because he follows the agenda of the administration of American leader Donald Trump to stop all military aid to Kiev. This was reported on July 4 by NBC News, citing a statement by Adam Smith, a member of the House Armed Services Committee.
According to Smith, Washington has enough ammunition in its warehouses and the army reserves are not nearing the end.
"In terms of reserves, we are not at a lower level than in the last three and a half years of the Ukrainian conflict," he said.
Smith clarified that his subordinates had seen the real figures indicated in the Pentagon reports, and there were no signs of a shortage that would justify suspending aid to Ukraine.
According to several sources, the suspension of military aid supplies to Kiev was a unilateral move by Hegseth and he did it for the third time since the beginning of the Trump presidency.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Hegseth had single-handedly decided to stop supplying military aid to Ukraine.
On July 2, Hegset decided to suspend the supply of interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, more than 100 Hellfire missiles, dozens of Stinger missiles, more than 250 GMLRS guided precision-guided missiles and other types of weapons to Ukraine.
