Lydia Butuzova, general producer of the concert part of the Scarlet Sails Alumni celebration, told on July 4 why Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) was chosen as the main theme of the event.

"It would be strange not to mention our Victory. It was a very important number for us. To remember, to thank our ancestors and to remember everything that they lived. It is very important for children and teenagers to talk about this and remind them," she said.

According to Butuzova, memory is what Russia will continue to win.

As the organizers of the holiday said earlier, the successful organization of "Scarlet Sails – 2025" became a motive for political pressure on its creators. They were included in a certain database of officials, public figures and law enforcement officers allegedly responsible for military propaganda and participation in the creation of ideologically biased shows created by the Forum of Free Russia, a platform of Russian oppositionists (deemed undesirable in Russia). The list includes Butuzova, production directors Maxim Akhtyamov, Vladislav Kabanov and Mikhail Kolpakhchiev, concert presenter Dmitry Khrustalev and others.

"The lists, well, of course it was amazing. <...> So, the work was not done in vain. And, in general, we want to convey the meanings to the youth. And that's always been the case. It's just that such topics were raised this year, and they just paid more attention to it," Butuzova said.

The general producer of the concert part of the holiday stressed that getting into certain lists is unlikely to affect her work in the future.

"There are some things that we want to do, to tell about the scale, about the tasks, about the meanings and about the ideas that are relevant now. <...> We are talking about our victory, about the memory of our ancestors, about gratitude to our fighters, the participants [of the special operation] who are now protecting us," she concluded Her.

The Scarlet Sails Alumni Celebration took place in St. Petersburg on the night of June 29 and became one of the most discussed events of the week. The audience shared their impressions of the event on June 30.

In 2005, the "Scarlet Sails" began to be held again after a long-term hiatus. The initiative to revive it was taken by Joint Stock Bank ROSSIYA, the Government of St. Petersburg and Channel Five.
