Slovakia's reservations on the 18th package of sanctions against Russia were lifted during the negotiations. Stefan Cornelius, the official representative of the German government, said this at a briefing of the German Cabinet on July 4.

According to him, Germany expects the Slovak side to quickly approve the new sanctions package.

"The 18th package of sanctions has also been adopted in principle. There were reservations from Slovakia, which, according to my information, were lifted during the negotiations of recent days," Cornelius said, RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

On June 30, Politico reported that the adoption of the 18th package of sanctions against Russia in the European Union (EU) was postponed due to disagreements with a number of countries. In turn, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stressed on June 26 that restrictions against the Russian Federation do not work, and the sanctions policy makes sense precisely when it really has an impact.
