Germany announced plans to hold an EU summit on tightening migration policy

Federal Minister of the Interior of Germany Alexander Dobrindt is looking for allies in Europe to tighten the migration policy of the European Union (EU) and in this regard plans to convene a summit of interior ministers of the union countries in the German city of Zugspitze on July 18. This was reported by the Handelsblatt newspaper on July 4, citing sources in the German Interior Ministry.
According to the information, the main goals of the Zugspitz Summit are to "give an important impetus to the tightening of European migration policy" and generally reorganize the asylum process.
Dobrindt is reported to have invited the interior ministers of France, Poland, Austria, Denmark and the Czech Republic, as well as EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs Magnus Brunner.
In the coming weeks, the "Zugspitz Declaration" with specific points should be adopted, the implementation of which should be facilitated by the participating Ministers of the Interior at the European level.
"This includes, among other things, measures to introduce innovative solutions with third countries, resolute fight against crime related to smuggling, consistent return and strong external borders of the EU," the article said.
On May 8, the Daily Mail newspaper reported that the UK government plans to introduce stricter requirements for migrants' knowledge of English in order to ensure their integration into society. It was noted that migrants now have to demonstrate only a basic command of the language.
