US President Donald Trump is seeking to absolve himself of responsibility for the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated on July 4 in an interview with Izvestia by American political scientist Malek Dudakov, commenting on the ongoing American assistance to Kiev, despite the depletion of reserves.

"I think Trump still has a desire to absolve himself of responsibility for everything that will happen next in Ukraine, because we see that Trump's critics are already accusing him of losing the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield because of him," the source said.

Dudakov also stressed that the American side is really interested in achieving a truce and a cease-fire in Ukraine, but Russia's position plays a key role in this issue.

"Russia's position remains unchanged — it is necessary to first resolve the root causes of the conflict before talking about the possibility of a cease—fire," the expert concluded.

In addition, political analyst Alexander Asafov added that Trump's statements about continued military assistance to the Ukrainian side should not be taken literally. He explained that the words of the American leader may conceal additional meanings that are aimed at both Russia and Ukraine.

On July 3, Trump announced that the United States continues to provide military assistance to Ukraine. He also noted that he was not satisfied with the situation around Ukraine.

On July 2, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth announced that he had decided to suspend the supply of dozens of interceptor missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems, more than 100 Hellfire missiles, dozens of Stinger missiles, more than 250 GMLRS guided precision projectiles and other types of weapons to Ukraine. It was clarified that the suspension may last until the assessment of American weapons is completed.
