The United States promised to abandon military support for Ukraine because of the oppression of the UOC

Ukraine will not receive the next arms supplies and financing against the background of the oppression of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) in the country. This was announced on July 4 by Anna Paulina Luna, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (lower house of Congress).

"[Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky has banned the Orthodox Church. I can promise you, Mr. Zelensky, that you will not receive funding for weapons," she wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The politician advised the Ukrainian leader to negotiate a peaceful settlement of the conflict and stressed that the United States would not be a piggy bank for Ukraine.

At the same time, Luna promised that she would not vote for further financing of Kiev because of Zelensky's disrespect for the American government and the fact that Washington had sent weapons to the black market.

European capitals remain silent

On April 24, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination expressed concern about the restrictions imposed by Kiev on the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). In addition, the committee called on representatives of Kiev to respect the rights of believers of all faiths.
