Hezbollah may partially disarm in case of a cease-fire in Gaza

The leadership of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement has begun a serious strategic review of its activities and is considering the possibility of partial disarmament against the background of a possible end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip and the damage caused by Israel. This was reported on July 4 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.
The media notes that the arsenal that Hezbollah has accumulated to deter Israel from attacking Lebanon has become a burden that could potentially encourage Israel to launch new attacks. At the same time, the group is not going to abandon all weapons.
The agency notes that Hezbollah has faced serious financial difficulties and a change in the balance of power in the region, having suffered heavy losses from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the source said.
The group is also considering the possibility of transferring some of its existing weapons, in particular missiles and drones, to other countries if Israel completely withdraws from southern Lebanon. It clarifies that the IDF will continue to operate along the border of the two states in accordance with the agreements between them in order to eliminate any threat and protect Israeli citizens.
The IDF press service reported on June 23 that Israeli Air Force fighters attacked military installations, weapons depots and rocket launchers of the Shiite Hezbollah movement north of the Litani River in Lebanon.
On June 20, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz threatened to destroy Hezbollah if the movement continued to support Iran. The head of Hezbollah, according to Katz, has not drawn conclusions from the fate of his predecessors and is threatening Israel again, following orders from Tehran.
