- Ex-deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Baryshev was sentenced to three years for fraud
Pavel Baryshev, the former deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, was sentenced to three years in a penal colony for fraud. This was announced on July 4 by the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC RF).
"He was found guilty of committing fraud on an especially large scale and falsifying evidence in a civil case (part 4 of Article 159, part 1 of Article 303 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," the department's Telegram channel says.
It is clarified that in 2017-2019, the defendant forged and submitted to the court documents confirming his right to housing. As a result, he was given a three-room apartment in the capital. Thus, Baryshev caused particularly large-scale damage to the state.
According to the press service of the department, Baryshev was sentenced to three years in prison to be served in a correctional colony of general regime and fined 200 thousand rubles.
Earlier, on September 5, 2024, investigators opened a criminal case against Baryshev. It was clarified that the value of the stolen three-room apartment is at least 20 million rubles. In addition, law enforcement officers then seized the property of the former deputy head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
