A high-alert regime has been introduced in the south of the Pskov Region, in the Nevelsky Municipal District. The reason is a "floating" island on the Yemenka River. This is stated in the decree of the district administration, which is published on the official website of the regulatory legal acts of the region.

The purpose of introducing the regime is to prevent an emergency situation when a traffic jam forms on the river, which may raise the water level and flood the surrounding areas, the Pskov News feed writes.

The high alert mode is in effect from 4 p.m. on July 3. It will last until further notice.

Earlier, on July 4, it was reported that the water level at the dam in St. Petersburg rose above 180 cm. This is considered an abnormal phenomenon for July, as the last time a cyclone of similar strength covered the Northern Capital was 160 years ago.
