Customs officers at Vnukovo Airport detained a 46-year-old Russian man who was about to fly to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a gold chain worth 3 million rubles. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia.
It is specified that customs officers stopped a man who, during the interview, presented the inspectors with a gold chain weighing 400 g. According to him, the product was intended for personal use, but he did not know about the need to declare it.
According to the press service of the department, during the examination it turned out that the chain was made of 916 gold alloy and was not a finished piece of jewelry. As a result, it was decided to withdraw the goods from the Russian.
"A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Smuggling of strategically important resources"). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 5 years or a fine of up to 1 million rubles," it follows from the material.
