Healthy children without chronic diseases do not need special training before traveling, but it is not recommended to take babies younger than three months on a trip. Lusine Avakian, a pediatrician at the pediatric department of the Russian Children's Clinical Hospital of the Russian Ministry of Health, told Izvestia on July 5 how to organize a summer trip with a child.

For children with chronic diseases (asthma, allergies, diabetes), it is mandatory to consult with their doctor before traveling. According to the therapist, it is necessary to take all medications, including inhalers for asthma, antihistamines for allergies, insulin and a glucose meter for diabetes. Special attention should be paid to vaccination — additional immunization may be required when traveling to exotic countries.

Avakian recommends collecting a first-aid kit, including antipyretics, antihistamines, remedies for motion sickness and gastrointestinal disorders, as well as medications for wound treatment. Sunscreens with SPF 30+ and insect repellents are mandatory.

"If the child is seasick, it is better to take seats at the beginning of the cabin on the plane, in the train — along the way, in the car — by the window," the doctor advises.

When pressure drops occur during the flight, babies are helped by sucking on a bottle, and older children are helped by lollipops or drinking through a straw.

The expert calls the observance of a drinking regime, light snacks and weather-appropriate clothing made of natural materials important components of a comfortable trip. For entertainment, it's worth taking books, coloring books, or a tablet with cartoons on the road.

"Take a supply of diapers, mixtures (if necessary), and favorite toys for babies on the road. Proper preparation and attention to the needs of the child are the key to a successful family trip," Avakyan concluded.

On May 29, it was reported that families with children would travel to St. Petersburg (20%), Moscow (12%) and Sochi (11%) within the Russian Federation in the summer, while Abkhazia (37%), Belarus (28%) and Italy (7%) became the leaders among foreign destinations. You will be able to save money in Mordovia: in the republic, the average price of one night for a family of three has decreased by 55% compared to last year.
