The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has issued a warning to Russia's largest salt producer. The Russol company should develop a trade policy, the service said on July 4.

"Russol LLC refused to deliver the goods to Soltorg LLC and Glavsnab LLC, given the economic and technological opportunity. Also, the manufacturer did not notify Soltorg LLC about the contractual campaign, knowing about the seller's intention to participate in it. Such actions by the manufacturer indicate evasion from concluding a supply contract with the specified sellers, which may be a violation of the Law on Protection of Competition," the service explained.

It was also noted that the FAS established that in 2024 the organization held a dominant position in the wholesale market of edible salt.

The Service sent a warning to Russol LLC demanding to stop actions that may violate the antimonopoly legislation. In particular, this concerns the development of a trade policy for the sale of edible salt.

This document should specify the procedure for concluding supply contracts and processing applications, ensuring non-discriminatory access of market participants to an important social product. In addition, it is necessary to establish principles of pricing for edible salt in trade policy, which exclude unjustified increases in selling prices.

The implementation of the requirements will help reduce the risks of violations of antimonopoly legislation in the market of edible salt, including in terms of setting monopolistically high prices.

Earlier, on April 30, the FAS fined the National Non-Metallic Company for failure to provide information. It was reported that the organization did not provide information on the reasons for the increase in prices for crushed stone, contrary to the motivated demand of the FAS of Russia. During the monitoring process, the service discovered an increase in prices for crushed stone of the M 1000 brand and contacted JSC NOC with a request to provide information on the cost of production, price changes and the reasons for their growth from the company's branches in the Novosibirsk region.
