About 220 apartments were destroyed in a nighttime fire in the suburb of Warsaw, Zombki. This was announced on Friday, July 4, by the TVP channel.

According to firefighters, the fire broke out in the attic of one of the apartment buildings and quickly spread to neighboring buildings. About 300 firefighters with 60 pieces of equipment fought the fire. About 500 people were evacuated, and the flames were extinguished only a few hours later.

"According to recent reports, four people were slightly injured – three of them were poisoned by smoke, and one of the firefighters was taken to the hospital with a sprained ankle," the publication said.

Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Sekerski said that the victims can count on assistance from the state and local authorities. At the first stage, payments of up to 8 thousand zlotys are provided, then additional support measures are possible.

"In summer, there is often a problem with overloading the power grid in Poland, and this can cause fires. There are air conditioners and other devices that significantly increase electricity consumption, which is why the power grid is more loaded in summer than in winter," added Sekersky.

The day before, a large fire broke out at a former training ground in German Saxony, and the sounds of detonation of ammunition were heard. A state of emergency has been declared in the district.
