- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the Hungarian Ambassador for a conversation after the appearance of cartoons with Zelensky
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned Hungarian Ambassador Antal Heizer for a conversation due to the distribution of cartoon posters depicting the country's leader Vladimir Zelensky. This was reported on July 3 in the press service of the Ukrainian department.
The Benze Apati National resistance movement in Budapest has distributed posters depicting the President of Ukraine and opposition Hungarian politician Peter Magyar. In the cartoon, they are sitting in an eggshell and waving Ukrainian flags.
"During a meeting with Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine Antal Heizer, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Mishchenko stressed that it is obvious to the Ukrainian side that the political forces ruling in Hungary are trying to involve Ukraine in an internal political struggle under any conditions," the ministry said in a statement on Facebook (owned by Meta, whose activities recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
The Foreign Ministry clarified that Heizer was summoned in connection with unfriendly statements by the Hungarian side and the distribution of posters depicting Zelensky as a "clown."
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on July 3 that Ukraine was increasingly attacking Hungary because of its refusal to support the republic's membership in the EU. According to him, Kiev should understand that Budapest does not support the country's membership in the association for fundamental and strategic reasons.
