The therapist named the symptoms of intoxication from a tick bite

Cases of infection with anaplasmosis (a bacterial infection spread by ticks) have been recorded in the central part of Russia. On July 4, internist Denis Prokofiev listed the main symptoms of this disease and gave advice on first aid for insect bites.
Prokofiev reported that anaplasmosis can manifest itself in general weakness, accompanied by fever, dizziness, nausea and even vomiting, and can also be completely asymptomatic in the body. It is carried by "southern ticks", whose presence in the central part of the Russian Federation was revealed after abnormally cold winters.
"Ticks do not have a single habitat halo, because they are absolutely calmly tolerated by birds and animals. Therefore, there is a great spread. Of course, the growth of the tick population and, in this regard, the growth of the disease is primarily due to climate change and tropical warming," the doctor said in an interview with Sputnik radio.
According to the expert, ticks carry many diseases, including tick-borne encephalitis (affects the nervous system and can cause inflammation of the brain) and Lyme disease (can affect joints, nervous system and heart). He stressed that when a tick is bitten, it is necessary to contact a medical institution for specialists.
"If there is an opportunity to get to the emergency room, that's great. If not, then iodine is a good helper here. It can be an iodine solution of betadine. It can be an alcohol solution, there are certain antiviral and antibacterial drugs, but they are already recommended to be taken exactly as prescribed by a doctor," added Prokofiev.

On June 6, Vladimir Neronov, an infectious disease specialist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), MD, told Izvestia that vaccination is the main way to protect against tick-borne encephalitis. He also noted that the activity of ticks begins when the temperature reaches more than +5 degrees, and it worsens in warm and humid weather.
