SCMP spoke about China's position on the Ukrainian conflict

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Wang Yi, speaking with the head of the European Diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, pointed out the importance of Russia's victory in the Ukrainian conflict, since otherwise the US attention could be directed at Beijing. This was reported on July 4 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper, citing sources.
"Wang Yi told the EU's top diplomat on Wednesday that Beijing cannot afford Russia's defeat in the conflict in Ukraine, as it fears that the United States will then shift all its attention to Beijing," the publication says.
According to the publication, the Ukrainian conflict currently remains one of the main sources of disagreement between China and the European Union, which accuses China of allegedly supplying dual-use goods to the Russian side.
During the talks, Wang Yi rejected all accusations against his country and outlined the peacemaking position of the republic, which, according to him, considers Moscow and Kiev to be Beijing's partners.
On July 2, Callas informed Wang Yi of the European Union's commitment to cooperation with China. Also during the talks in Brussels, the head of the European Diplomacy called on China to "reduce the imbalance in mutual trade" and lift restrictions on exports of rare earths to the EU.
